My QY70 pageA little while back I picked up a Yamaha QY70 to breath new life into my FM based DX7. The QY70 is a clever little device which combines a 32-voice AWM2 XG sound engine with a 24 track sequencer all in a box the size of a VHS cassette. You can also access about 100 fairly decent accompaniments of various styles to jam out to. I picked up mine used from Music Go Round for $230 bucks.
I learned quickly that although it would be possible to sequence long running and broad creations on the QY, my attention span with the thing wanes after about an hour of button pushing. Instead of working on a grand masterpiece, I've been sketching out quick 4 tracks melodies and moving on. And since I didn't get the QY which accepts memory cards, the sequencer memory fills up pretty quickly. So to make new room I've moved mp3's of my past creations here.
I created all of these from scratch and the samples come right from the QY70. Headphones are recommended ... I like to use of the Q70's built in effects processor.
